When I first met the couple a few months beforehand they were so relaxed and chilled out that I just knew they were perfect for my style of photography. Jim was very easy going and as long as Laura was happy then Jim was happy. This is kinda what you expect us, males, to do when planning things. Laura was relaxed about it all and was very organised, knew what she was doing and what she needed to do.
On the big day, I arrived at La Mon Hotel & Country Club at approx 0800 hours and went to have a walk around the Milford suite that they were getting married in. La Mon Hotel & Country Club is situated in the Castlereagh Hills just outside Belfast. I started off with a few pics of reception and the foyer where it was laid out for the guests arriving and a had a quick sneak peek at the cake in the back area.
At 0930 hours I made my way up to the room where the ladies were getting hair and makeup done for the wedding. I walked into them all just chilling out and getting hair done or makeup sorted. I can tell you this, the chat and the fun that was had in that room was off the scale, I came away having learned a few things I think. A few detail shots and pictures of the ladies having makeup and hair done then it was quickly down to meet the men that just arrived.
A few more pics outside with the men and families then it was back up to the room for the dress fitting. Father of the bride joined and had a few quiet tears to himself and why not for Laura and the bridesmaids were all looking stunning.
The ceremony was beautiful and conducted by Rev. David Cooper. The Milford Suite I always found to be quite dark and with mixed lighting it always presents a challenge and avoiding light flicker is important so a shutter speed to match this was necessary and a wee tip for any other photographers with this venue.
A good few laughs during the ceremony and again a very relaxed, fun approach which was fantastic! After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the foyer where the bar was opened and the hugs and shaking of hands commenced.
The speeches were moving, well thought out and hit a few heartstrings along the way. With a projector setup and few images from when Laura and Jim were younger amused us all and very well put together.
The cake was supplied by the very talented Nikki Miller and wow it was really something. A replica of Laura and Jim sat on top and really was a focal point for those entering the room. The disco got underway later and a few games were played to which we all got a good laugh once again. Candy floss cart and photo booth were all present and everyone was making good use of those.
It was an amazing wedding, Laura and Jim are two of the nicest people I have met and was a great honour to be a part of this wedding. I wish them nothing but love and happiness as they begin their lives as Mr & Mrs. Coulter.
Thank you for sharing your amazing memories with me!
