During the Coronavirus outbreak and restrictions that were brought into place across the nation, weddings were threw into somewhat of disarray. Like many who had already booked their wedding and postponed or cancelled, Nikki and Cathal were not prepared to let things stand in their way as they planed their Portglenone wedding.
What they came up with was a smaller wedding of close friends and family albeit missing out on a number of people due to the restrictions that were in place. They not only made it work but they set an example to other couples out there of what is possible when you put your mind to it.
They got married in St Mary's Church in Portglenone as originally planned with the reduced numbers that were put in place. It was a beautiful ceremony, the reading, the priest, the whole ceremony was just very intimate. The interior of St Mary's church in one word is stunning! The roof kept drawing my eye and lost count how many times i just stared upwards at it. Fully refurbished, the colours and textures are just incredible and the perfect location for a wedding.
Nikki had the most beautiful wedding dress supplied by 7th Heaven Bridal (Congleton, England). The bridesmaids and groomsmen all looked super with colours that complimented each other and very well thought out. Everybody was all dressed at their best and looking sharp!
After the Ceremony had ended we all went back to Cathal's Parents' house, Cathal senior and Clare McShane just outside Portglenone itself. Here we were presented with a large gazebo, a backyard that was designed with perfection with gas heaters, water features and a view that would carry you off into the distance. A hand sanitising station was also set up as during these times extra caution is needed. Nothing was skipped it was all there!
The weather threatened rain at times and although it did eventually come it did not dampen anybody's spirits and with a great BBQ and plenty of refreshments, everyone was happy. With Alexa putting out the tunes in the corner it was just such a relaxed reception, exactly like it should be.
The speeches came with some wise words and tales of Nikki and Cathal when they were younger. How did a girl from Cheshire meet a boy from Portglenone? A little trip to Australia is all that it took, a trip that would change both their lives and randomly meet each other and eventually fall in love. It's like a fairy tale from a book yet that's exactly how it happened.
So Coronavirus has disrupted many a wedding this year but here we have 2 individuals that with the support from their family and friends pulled off a wedding that I will remember for quite some time. Fun, relaxed, easy-going, this is how weddings should be, and given how laid back Nikki and Cathal are it comes of no surprise.
Excellent Wedding in Portglenone, a wedding that leads the way and proves anything is possible during coronavirus restrictions. Wish you both the very best of luck in the future and a massive thanks for sharing your memories with me.
